Gamification

Points, levels, badges, and competitions that make maintenance engagement measurable — and rewarding.

Gamification

Find it: Gamification in the sidebar (Dashboard, Badges, Competitions, Leaderboard); manage rules under Management → Gamification Management (Admin group).

Sound familiar?

  • "Adoption stalled. Technicians log in only when forced."
  • "How do I know who my strongest all-round technicians are?"
  • "Training completion is a chore, not a win."

People engage with what rewards them. Make good maintenance habits visible and they compound.

The Problem

CMMS adoption lives or dies on whether technicians actually use the system. Pure mandates fade. There's no shared scoreboard, so effort goes unnoticed and the best people don't stand out.

What OpexMX Gamification Does

Turns maintenance work into points, levels, badges, and competitions — automatically, off the events you already generate.

Points, Earned Automatically

A rule engine fires on real events (ticket completed, PM done, training finished). Points come from configurable formulas — effort_priority or priority_only — built on effort-level base points (Basic 1, Inspection 1, TPM 2, Calibration 3, Overhaul 5) times effort and priority multipliers. No manual scoring.

Levels & Badges

Define levels with point bands (minPoints/maxPoints) and award badges for milestones. A technician's profile rolls up level, points, badge count, and qualifications.

Competitions & Leaderboard

Run scoped competitions (global, or per site/team) on a metric — default points_earned — with maxParticipants and a draft → active → completed → cancelled lifecycle. Live standings rank participants; joining enforces capacity and active status.

Qualifications, Tied In

Completing an approved training auto-awards its linked qualification, so progression in the LMS shows up in the gamification profile. Skill-coverage reports show where the team is thin.

How It Works

  1. Define rules — which events earn points, and the formula.
  2. Set levels and badges — the progression ladder.
  3. Work happens — tickets close, PMs complete, training is approved.
  4. Points accrue automatically — levels rise, badges unlock.
  5. Run competitions — optional leaderboards to focus a quarter.

Pro Tips

  • Start with points on the behaviors you most want (PM completion, on-time tickets).
  • Keep levels attainable early; stretch the upper bands.
  • Use short competitions to drive a focused push, not permanent leaderboards.
  • Tie badges to real capability (certifications), not just activity.

Integrations

  • Tickets / PM: completing work earns points via effort + priority
  • Training: approved completion auto-awards qualifications
  • Reports: gamification metrics surface in analytics
