What to Record Per Instrument

  • Asset and tag — which instrument, where it lives.
  • Calibration interval — monthly, quarterly, annual, by vendor spec.
  • Standard or reference — the traceable standard it is calibrated against.
  • Last and next due dates — auto-calculated from the interval.

Stay Ahead of Due Dates

  1. Define calibration intervals on each instrument.

  3. Log each calibration result; the next due date rolls forward.

Tips

Calibrate on schedule even when the instrument reads fine. Drift is invisible until it isn't, and then every reading since the last calibration is suspect.
