The tool crib is where calibrated, accountable tools live. OpexMX tracks check-out, return, and calibration of each tool.

Track Per Tool

  • Tool identity — make, model, serial, and a readable ID.
  • Status — available, checked out, in calibration, out of service.
  • Custodian — who currently holds it.
  • Calibration link — if the tool requires calibration, tie it to the cycle.

Day-to-Day Use

  1. Tech checks a tool out against their name.
  2. Tool shows as in-use on the work order it supports.
  3. Tech returns it; status flips back to available.

Tips

Make check-out frictionless. If scanning a QR code takes longer than grabbing the tool, people stop checking out and you lose accountability.
