Assets rarely exist in isolation — a pump belongs to a line, which belongs to a plant. Modeling that hierarchy is what makes OpexMX powerful.
Why Hierarchy Matters
- Roll-up reporting — see downtime and cost at the line, area, or plant level
- Faster lookup — drill from plant to line to asset in the sidebar
- Inherited context — a child asset carries its parent's location and criticality
Modeling Tips
Keep parent levels broad (site, area, line) and make leaf nodes the things you actually maintain (pump, motor, valve).
