Building the Skill Matrix
The skill matrix is a per-technician competency map: who can do what, and how well. It is the backbone of every assignment decision OpexMX makes — without it, suggestions are just guesses.
Skill Levels
- 1 - Aware — can identify the task, cannot execute unsupervised
- 2 - Assists — works under a senior tech, not yet independent
- 3 - Independent — handles standard jobs alone
- 4 - Trains — independent and coaches others
- 5 - Expert — troubleshoots the unusual, owns the asset
Why It Drives Assignment
- Each asset and task type carries a required skill level
- OpexMX matches that requirement against every tech matrix
- Unqualified techs are greyed out, qualified techs light up
- The result: fewer callbacks, safer work, fewer botched repairs
Tips
Rate conservatively and re-evaluate quarterly. A skill claimed too generously shows up as a repeat failure on the same asset.
