Reorder points and par levels keep stock from running out — or overflowing. Set them and OpexMX flags when a part needs replenishing.
The Numbers
- Reorder point — the level at which you buy more
- Par level — the target you restock up to
- Safety stock — a buffer for demand spikes and lead time
Tips
Set reorder points using actual usage and lead time, not guesses. Review seasonally for parts with lumpy demand.
