MTTR and MTBF Metrics
MTTR (mean time to repair) and MTBF (mean time between failures) are the bread and butter of reliability. Together they describe how resilient your operation is.
What They Mean
- MTTR — average downtime per failure; lower is better
- MTBF — average time between failures; higher is better
How to Use Them
Track per asset and trend over time. MTBF climbing means your PMs are working; MTTR falling means your response is improving.
