Assigning Work to Technicians

Learn how to assign and track work orders.

Assigning Work to Technicians

Creating a work order is only half the job — getting it to the right person, on time, is what keeps operations moving.

Assigning a Work Order

  1. Open the work order you want to assign
  2. In the Assignee field, pick a technician
  3. Set a due date that reflects real priority
  4. Save — the technician is notified automatically

Tracking Status

A work order moves through a lifecycle:

  • Open — created, not yet started
  • In Progress — the technician has begun work
  • On Hold — blocked, waiting on parts or approval
  • Completed — finished and closed out

Watch the status to spot bottlenecks before they delay the team.

Balancing the Workload

Before assigning, glance at each technician's open work. Piling everything on one person creates burnout and missed deadlines; spreading work evenly keeps SLAs intact. Use Reports to see who is at capacity.

Collaboration

Multiple technicians can contribute to a single work order — add comments, log time, and attach photos as the work progresses so the whole team stays aligned.
